Sep. 20—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji High School girls tennis team defeated Rock Ridge 5-2 Friday afternoon, improving to 21-0 on the season.
It was one of the more impressive wins of the year, considering Rock Ridge’s recent ranking just outside the AA girls tennis top ten.
The Lumberjacks lost just two matches to the Wolverines, one in singles and one in doubles.
Liz Peterson earned an impressive two-set win in No. 2 singles against Alli Fink, one of Rock Ridge’s strongest players.
Lilly Caron and Bailey Rupp also picked up singles wins for BHS at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Megan Berg and Sam Wood teamed up at No. 1 doubles for a thriller of a three-set match, eventually topping Ayla Troutwine and Nina Paulsen 12-10 in the third set for the win.
Millie Knott and Zoe McNallan also picked up a win in doubles, besting Ava Dahl and Kiri Milos in two sets at No. 3.
