Lumberjacks’ stellar season finally comes to close at state tournament

Date:

Oct. 23—In its 2024 campaign, the Bemidji High School girls tennis team earned an undefeated 23-0 regular season record and tacked on three more wins to capture the Section 8AA Championship for the first time since 2021.

Tuesday evening, the Lumberjacks’ stellar season finally came to a close.

The Jacks suffered a 6-1 loss — their first loss of the season — to third-seeded Mounds View in the first round of the tournament.

Bemidji’s sole victory against the Mustangs came in No. 1 doubles, where Megan Berg and Elena Peterson defeated Shae Crockarell and Stella Fagerlee in three sets.

In the consolation bracket, Bemidji lost a close 4-3 match to East Ridge.

Liz Peterson and Bailey Rupp picked up two-set wins in No. 2 and No. 4 doubles, respectively. The Lumberjacks’ third point of the game came courtesy of Millie Knott and Zoe McNallan in No. 3 doubles.
