“I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool.”
These words from Travis Kelce sparked controversy after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was asked to give his thoughts on the news that Donald Trump was set to make history to become the first sitting President to attend the Super Bowl.
Mahomes agrees with Kelce’s “cool” Trump comments
“It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president. Someone that is at the top position in our country”, Mahomes told reporters eager to get his thoughts on what his teammate had said which sparked controversy. “It’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play,” he added.
Trump was asked what team he would be rooting for, to which he heavily implied that the Chiefs were on his mind: “I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner.” These comments came after a message posted on his Truth Social platform which read: “What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers.”
