Man City, Man Utd Learn Barcelona, PSG Target’s Price in Competitive Transfer Race

Viktor Gyökeres is attracting attention from several top European clubs as 2025 approaches, with Sporting Lisbon reportedly open to selling their star striker. Among the interested parties, one club appears to be leading the race for the Swedish forward.

L’Équipe’s Loïc Tanzi reports that Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on Gyökeres and are preparing a summer 2025 move. PSG’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, has already reached out to the player’s representatives.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have started initial talks about a potential move for Gyökeres next summer and are now actively pursuing the player. However, any deal will hinge on the club making sales first.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have intensified their interest in recent days, with club official Hugo Viana playing a key role in their efforts to secure the player.

Finally, SPORT claims Barcelona are considering a €70 million bid for Gyökeres, with plans to loan him back to Sporting for an additional season.

Amid the ongoing rumors regarding the Swedish standout, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reveals that a January move shouldn’t be ruled out. Still, all signs point to a summer move for Gyökeres.

“Viktor Gyokeres will almost certainly be one of the most high-profile transfers in 2025, probably in the summer,” Ornstein noted. “You never know what offers may land in January but the firm expectation is he departs at the end of this season.

“His €100 million (£83m; $106m) release clause is well documented but Sporting CP are likely to do business for around €70m. Strong interest is building from a host of suitors and there is heavy speculation Manchester United will be among them. Gyokeres has a close relationship with Ruben Amorim but that doesn’t guarantee he’ll favour a switch to Old Trafford.

“The forward has a preference on who he would like to join, although various elements need to fall into place for it to happen. The situation is open. His camp is considering options from across Europe, including Premier League clubs, as they decide on the next step.”
