Man stabbed outside of Popeyes after harassing employees, Corpus Christi police say

Date:

A man stabbed a former co-worker who had been fired from his job at a Southside restaurant and harassed and threatened employees, Corpus Christi police said.

At 6:03 p.m., Corpus Christi Police Department officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Everhart Road in reference to the stabbing and arrived at the business to find the 35-year-old-male victim. The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release published on Tuesday.

Through a preliminary investigation, police learned that the victim was fired from his job at a restaurant earlier that day.

The restaurant was a Popeyes, senior officer Jennifer Collier said.

Police said that witnesses told them the victim had returned to the business several times during the day to harass and threaten employees. Police were called several times, but the man would run away before they could arrive, they said.

The last time the victim showed up, he began to assault the former co-worker in the parking lot, police said.

When the victim approached another former co-worker, that co-worker stabbed the victim, they said.

Police identified the offender as 53-year-old Margarito Cisneros. They arrested him on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and took him to the Corpus Christi Detention Center.

Police are still investigating the incident.
