Over the past few weeks, injuries have defined the past matches for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side has been ravaged by injury. The champions had six players missing for their 2-1 defeat to Brighton. The flow-on effect of City’s injury crisis is it has put a strain on City’s fit players. Fatigue has also set in amongst the Manchester City squad. That was evident during the second half at the Amex Stadium. The latest player to join City’s injury list is winger Jeremy Doku. Pep Guardiola provided an update on the Belgian international’s injury after his team’s loss to Brighton.
Following Manchester City’s defeat to Brighton Pep Guardiola was asked why Jeremy Doku was absent from the Manchester City squad for Saturday’s match. Eyebrows were raised when Doku wasn’t named in the Manchester City matchday squad. Speaking on Doku’s injury Guardiola said: “He has some muscular problems in his quadriceps. He doesn’t feel good, he cannot run at full speed. (After the international break?) When we arrive, we will make a test, and we’ll make a selection, and we’ll see how they feel.”

Jeremy Doku joins Jack Grealish, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Oscar Bobb and Rodri on Manchester City’s injury list. The hope is that the upcoming international break allows Manchester City’s players to recover from their injuries.
Pep Guardiola was also asked if he was looking forward to the international break. The City manager believes it may help his squad as his players bid to recover from the ailments. He said: “I think everybody needs it, yeah. I think in our heads, it will be good for all of us; for the players, for ourselves, but especially for Ruben (Dias) to come back, hopefully John Stones comes back, and hopefully the other players.”
Jeremy Doku is the latest player to join Manchester City’s injury list. The hope is that he can recover from his injury over the international break. Manchester City need all hands on deck when domestic football returns. The champions have lost their past four matches in all competitions. If Pep Guardiola has a full squad to pick from it may help City arrest their current slide as having a full squad will give him the options he needs to rotate his squad when required.
