Manchester United secured Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte this past summer transfer window to bolster their midfield. However, there’s a concerning stat from his stint with the Parisians last season that could occur this campaign.
Several reports suggest that PSG are set to receive a fixed fee of €50 million for Ugarte’s transfer to Manchester United, an additional €10 million in potential add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause.
While the Red Devils circled Ugarte as the player they wanted to improve their midfield, the Uruguayan has his warts and WhoScored.com pointed out one flaw in his game that should raise concerns.
According to the statistical media outlet, Ugarte was dribbled past more times per 90 minutes (4.1) than any other midfielder in the UEFA Champions League last season for players who played over 200 minutes.
Moreover, Ugarte did play one Premier League club in the Champions League last season. The Parisians played against Newcastle United, losing the away match and drawing the home fixture.
The 23-year-old penned a contract until 2029, so supporters will soon see what the player brings to the table following the international break when he makes his Manchester United debut.
