Mark Pope gives encouraging update on Lamont Butler

Date:

The Kentucky Wildcats have another busy week on the court as they welcome Colgate and Louisville to Rupp Arena to almost put a wrap on the non-conference schedule.

Across the BBN, though, one question is being asked: Will we see Lamont Butler?

Well, Mark Pope was asked that question on his Monday radio show, and it sounds like it’s still a toss-up if we see him Wednesday vs. Colgate, though it sounds like there’s a good chance he plays Saturday vs. the Louisville Cardinals.

“It’s day-to-day right now, we’ll see. I’m hoping to see him on the court some tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes,” said Pope. “He got some work done today away from the team. He was at practice, kind of. His voice was there, but wasn’t doing anything active with us. We’re going to see how he responds tomorrow morning.

“Saturday feels…we’re really feeling sooner rather than later. It’s a matter of days. I would like those days to include a game on Wednesday. We’ll see how that goes.”

After rolling his ankle at Clemson last Tuesday, the Cats will be hopeful that Butler can suit up this week, especially after the injury to Kerr Kriisa. But after Jaxson Robinson’s performance against Gonzaga, I think the fanbase will be fine with seeing him run the point once again.

We can guess Butler will likely be a game-time decision on Wednesday night, but we will be keeping a close tab on updates from practice.
