US stock futures (^DJI, ^IXIC, ^GSPC) seek to recover from a very volatile first week of September trading.

Apple (AAPL) will unveil its iPhone 16 and the next generation of its other devices at a launch event later today.

Alphabet’s Google (GOOG, GOOGL) faces its second antitrust lawsuit by the Department of Justice. A suit focusing on Google’s advertising businesses is set to begin its trial today, Monday, September 9.

Good morning, everyone.

Let’s get to the three things that you need to know today.

Starting with the markets stock futures looking to bounce back after a tough week for the equities market.

The S and P 500 saw its worst week since March of 2023.

And the NASDAQ Composite had its worst week since 2022.

And video and the chip sector, they were a big laggard on tech and video of more than 12% over the last five trading days.

September is traditionally tough for stocks in this month, Wall Street is awaiting a final inflation reading ahead of the fed September meeting as well.

And Apple’s iphone 16 officially launching today, the tech giant is holding its annual iphone event and Cupertino California headquarters.

We’re expecting to announce a four new iphones along with new airpods in 1/10 anniversary edition of the Apple Watch.

Apple is also expected to roll out Apple Intelligence A I platform that will be for the IO I and that this is one of Apple’s most important events of the year and help set the tone for the year ahead since January 1st, Apple shares are up just about 14% and stay in that.

Google is back in the legal spotlight today as the company goes on trial for the second time.

This year, over monopolistic charges, prosecutors and lawyers for Google are expected and scheduled to give those opening arguments today in district court in a case that claims Google illegally maintained its dominance in three markets within the ecosystem that automates online advertising.

This case was brought in January 2023 back by the Biden administration’s Department of Justice along with 17 state attorneys general and it comes just a month after Google suffered a defeat in a high stakes federal antitrust case brought by the DOJ under former President Trump.
