Marseille retain interest in France U21 international Kiliann Sildillia

Olympique de Marseille retain an interest in SC Freiburg defender Kiliann Sildillia (22), according to a report from Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg

Marseille showed an interest in Sildillia, who featured for the France team during the Olympic Games over the summer, however, ultimately, Les Phocéens did not pull off a move. Having contended with injuries at the start of the season, the Frenchman has accrued just 27 minutes of playing time this season. Those injury issues have not deterred Marseille, according to Plettenberg.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have struggled defensively and there is not a stand-out option to play in the right-back position. Previously a bit-part player, Pol Lirola played there during OM’s 3-1 defeat to AJ Auxerre over the weekend. Reports in France suggest that Les Phocéens will look to recruit a right-back in January and the Sildillia remains a target. They may, however, face competition from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
