Memphis basketball vs Alabama score today: Live updates, game highlights, how to watch

Date:

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Penny Hardaway did not expect his Memphis basketball team to move mountains in its first exhibition game against North Carolina earlier this month.

His expectations are different for the Tigers’ exhibition game against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday (7 p.m., ESPN+) at Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama.

“I’m ramping things up,” he said last week. “We were prepared (for North Carolina). We just didn’t play pick-and-roll properly, which we know how to do. We didn’t communicate as much as we needed to. It’s a new team. You look at all the coaches around the country, all the quiet teams are losing teams.

“So, I’m challenging them to talk. We’re not going to hold your hand. We’re doing all these exhibitions for a reason.”

Tyrese Hunter, PJ Haggerty and the rest of the Tigers will have their hands full against Nate Oats’ Alabama squad, which is led by preseason All-American Mark Sears and transfer center Cliff Omoruyi.
