Date:

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the complete 2024-25 men’s basketball schedule on Tuesday with the Vaqueros opening the season at Nebraska on Nov. 4.

The Vaqueros will remain on the road to visit Creighton on Nov. 6 before playing their home opener on Nov. 10 against Champion Christian College at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

Basketball season tickets and multi-sport passes can be purchased online at GoUTRGV.com/BasketballSeasonTickets and GoUTRGV.com/MultiSportPass or by contacting the UTRGV Athletics ticket office over the phone at (956) 665-3415 or (956) 665-3747 or through email at tickets@utrgv.edu

“It’s exciting,” UTRGV Head Coach Kahil Fennell said. “I think it’s a really good mix of teams that are coming in here that bring a lot of challenges for us. It’s a fun non-conference schedule. I think it’s going to push us in a lot of different ways. We’ll learn a lot about ourselves heading into conference and we are looking forward to it.”

The Vaqueros are back on the road for the Greenbriar Tip-Off to face Charleston Southern on Nov. 15 and then either Virginia Military Institute or Tennessee Tech on Nov. 16 before traveling to face Wisconsin on Nov. 18.

The Vaqueros host seven-straight games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse starting Nov. 25 against Le Moyne before opening Southland Conference play against Stephen F. Austin on Dec. 5 and Lamar on Dec. 7.

UTRGV also hosts Northern New Mexico on Dec. 14, Southern Utah on Dec. 18, College of Biblical Studies on Dec. 21, and Dallas Christian on Dec. 30.

Southland competition resumes with 18 games starting on Jan. 4 at New Orleans and on Jan. 6 at Southeastern. The Vaqueros play their Southland games played on Saturdays and Mondays with the Southland Conference Tournament running from Mar. 9-12 at McNeese.
