Men’s Basketball Drops Exhibition Game To Bucknell – Saint Joseph’s University

Erik Reynolds II scored a game-high 24 points in Saint Joseph’s final warm-up before the regular season as the Hawks took on Bucknell in a NCAA-approved exhibition on Saturday afternoon at Hagan Arena. St. Joe’s and the Bison partnered to support autism awareness as net proceeds of ticket sales were donated to Saint Joseph’s University’s Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support, as Bucknell edged St. Joe’s in the exhibition, 88-82.

How It Happened

• Saint Joseph’s jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a three-pointer by Reynolds II.

• Bucknell answered and tied the game at 13-13 on a three-pointer by Achile Spadone.

• The Bison used a 6-2 run to snap a 26-26 tie as Josh Bascoe gave the visitors a 34-28 lead on a three-pointer with 2:32 left in the first half.

• Bucknell extended its lead to 11 early in the second half as a pair of free throws by Noah Williamson made it 46-35.

• Saint Joseph’s chipped away at the deficit as a dunk by Justice Ajogbor capped a 6-0 run to make it 45-41.

• Bucknell built its lead back to nine, 66-57, on two free throws by Jayden Williams.

• A three-pointer by Derek Simpson and three free throws from Reynolds II capped a 6-0 run by the Hawks as they tied the game at 70–70 with 4:42 to play.

• Tied at 80, Bucknell’s Elvin Edmonds IV converted a three-point play to give the visitors an 83-80 edge with 1:04 remaining.

• Saint Joseph’s would get within two points in the last minute, but the Bison sealed the game with three free throws in the final seconds.

• Reynolds II added a team-best five assists to go with his 24 points.

• Simpson scored 17 points, handed out four assists and added a team-best three steals.

Rasheer Fleming finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

Dasear Haskins added 14 points and eight rebounds.

• Ajogbor was 5-6 from the floor and added two free throws for 12 points.

• Saint Joseph’s starters accounted for all 82 points.
