BRUNSWICK, Ga. – After more than a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, the College of Coastal Georgia men’s basketball returns to action on Monday as they welcome in the Florida College Falcons for the second part of a home and home series.
The Mariners (3-4, 2-1 SUN) dropped their final Sun Conference game in the year of 2024 last time out to the pre-season champion Ave Maria Gyrenes on Saturday by a final of 107-76 in Ave Maria, Fla. last Saturday. Kaden McArthur was the lone bright spot in the worst loss for the Mariners this season as the sophomore dropped 22 points on 6-13 shooting.
Along with McArthur who is averaging just over 19 points a game, Salle Wilson is having an All-Sun Conference caliber season in his final collegiate season, averaging 15.6 points per game, and has scored in double figures in every game this season.
Defensive struggles have cost the Mariners at times as CCGA allows right at 80 points per game to opponents, as they rank in the bottom half of the country in defensive efficiency. The Mariners also rank poorly in many offensive categories, scoring just 73 points per game.
Despite the struggles scoring, the Mariners are 2-1 in conference play, having defeated the Warner Royals by three on the road and took care of Southeastern on their home floor by 10.
The Falcons (3-8) come in on a four game skid, having not won since November 9 when they defeated John Brown, and defeated the Mariners on their home floor back earlier this season. Away from home, the Falcons average significantly worse numbers in all three offensive categories, but score the same amount of points either way. Three Falcons average in double figures, with Johnny Torrence leading the pack with 12.4 points per game.
Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. from Howard Coffin Gym.
