Michigan QB Davis Warren said he suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter of Michigan’s ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama.
Warren posted a picture of himself in a leg brace to social media on Saturday. Warren left the game and didn’t return after he was sacked near the sideline. He was replaced for the rest of the game by backup Alex Orji.

Warren was Michigan’s starter for most of the season as the Wolverines finished 2024 8-5 with consecutive wins over Ohio State and Alabama. He won the job out of fall practice and regained it before the end of the season after both Orji and Jack Tuttle saw playing time. Tuttle was forced to medically retire because of injuries and Orji is reportedly set to enter the transfer portal.
Over nine games in 2024, Warren was 134-of-209 passing for 1,199 yards. He threw seven touchdowns and nine interceptions as Michigan’s QBs had 12 TD passes and 13 interceptions. Overall, the three quarterbacks who threw passes were 190-of-308 passing for 1,678 yards. Michigan rushed for over 2,000 yards as a team.
Warren is set to return in 2025, though Michigan has made moves to bolster its quarterback depth ahead of next season. The school has scored a commitment from in-state five-star prospect Bryce Underwood. He’s the No. 2 pro-style QB in the country behind Tavien St. Clair, an Ohio State signee.
The Wolverines have also added former UCF and Fresno State QB Mikey Keene through the transfer portal. Keene could be an ideal bridge starter for a season after starting for Fresno State in each of the past two seasons. He was 560-of-815 passing for 5,868 yards and 42 TDs with 21 interceptions during his time at Fresno.
