Mike Tomlin on three games in 11 days: Keep present challenge as the singular focus

Date:

The Steelers are one of four NFL teams that will be embarking on a stretch that sees them play three games in 11 days when they take the field on Sunday, but head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t looking beyond the first of those games at this point.

After facing the Eagles this weekend, the Steelers will have a Saturday game against the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 16 and a Wednesday game at home against the Chiefs in Week 17. It’s a daunting stretch of games that will weigh heavily on the team’s playoff positioning, but Tomlin said on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday that he wants to “keep the present challenges our singular focus” because they are on a regular week right now.

“I’m sure that everybody is aware of the schedule, but our job this week is the Philadelphia Eagles,” Tomlin said. “I’m gonna delve deeper into that probably more with the collective on the other side of this game. Right now, we’re in the midst of a seven-day cycle in terms of prep and so things are business as usual but it’s gonna quickly change once we’re on the other side of Philadelphia.”

Once the Steelers are through the upcoming stretch, they’ll get some extra time off heading into Week 18 and Tomlin will have shift the team’s focus again to make sure they head into the postseason with as much momentum as possible.
