Moody Courts: Windham dedicates basketball courts to beloved resident

Date:

WINDHAM (WGME) –A Windham man has been working to upgrade the town’s basketball courts for years. Now, his name is on them.

Windham’s outdoor basketball courts have officially been renamed “Moody Courts” in honor of Pat Moody, a longtime community member diagnosed with cancer over a year ago.

Moody’s friends shared that his cancer has spread, and he has been given just a few months to live.

In his honor, they held a surprise ribbon-cutting and renaming ceremony at the courts today.

“This is just supposed to show how truly loved and appreciated he is, just by looking at the amount of people that you can’t even move around,” said Tracy Graves, a Windham resident and friend of Moody.

“This is incredible,” said Moody, wiping away tears. “Everybody I love all in one place and having this dedicated. This court is something we’ve worked on for a long time, and to finally have it put together and have a surprise like this—just rocks me.”

The courts were shoulder-to-shoulder with supporters Sunday evening, all hoping the new name will honor Moody’s legacy in Windham.
