SOMERSWORTH – The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce welcomed 135 players for its 50th annual golf tournament last month at The Oaks Golf Links.
The tournament, which started in 1974, is one of the chamber’s most popular events and largest fund-raisers each year.
The foursome of Matthew D’Arcy, Joel Bergstrom, Matthew Williams, and Michael Ingalls placed first. The team of Dave Verno, John Roy, Ian Duffy, and Dave Middleton placed second, and also won the Masters Drive competition. Middleton also won the putting contest, and Duffy won the longest drive on the 17th hole.
Other awards went to Jason Fogg (closest to the pin on second shot, first hole); Troy Harmon (closest to the pin, third hole), Mike Roether (closest to the pin, fifth hole), Kevin Merrill (longest drive, sixth hole), Jim Menter (longest made putt, ninth hole), Kevin Grondin (closest to the pin in two shots, 10th hole), Ryan Collins (closest to the pin, 13th hole), and Sarah Harrington (closest drive to the line, 14th hole).
