Mt. Juliet’s Gettler finishes fourth in state golf

Oct. 15—SEVIERVILLE — Mt. Juliet’s Cooper Gettler finished fourth in the Class AA boys state golf tournament last Thursday and Friday at Sevierville Golf Club.

The senior shot 1-under 143 for the two rounds — 72 Thursday and 71 Friday.

He was two strokes behind third-place Tucker Wick of East Hamilton. Cookeville’s Owen Hill won with a 139.

In the girls’ tournament, Wilson Central junior Meredith Eller finished in a four-way tie for 13th place after shooting a 152, carding 77 and 75 individually.

There was a three-way tie for the lead at 140.

Earlier in the week, Watertown’s Noah Murphy competed in the Class A tournament and finished in a tie for 38th place after shooting a 173 on days of 88 and 85 Monday and Tuesday, respectively. The winner was Greyson Koch of White House Heritage with a 145.

In the Class A girls’ tournament, Watertown junior Isabella Parsons finished 23rd with a 185, shooting 94 and 91.

Two golfers tied for the top with 148s.
