ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team fell short against Troy, 86-69, in the championship round of the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout at Alaska Airlines Center on Saturday night.
Avery Koenen led the way for NDSU (3-2) with her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She also added three assists, three blocks and two steals. Abby Krzewinski reached double digits for the third straight game with 13 points and six rebounds off the bench. Koenen and Krzewinski were both also named to the Great Alaska Shootout All-Tournament Team.
As a team, NDSU shot 33.3 percent (24-72) from the field with 11 different players in the scoring column and the bench netting 31 points.
After NDSU led at the intermission, 36-35, Troy (3-4) opened the second half on a 20-2 run spanning almost seven minutes to steal a 55-38 advantage. The Trojans went on to outscore the Bison, 30-9, in the frame on 60 percent shooting from the field and led after three quarters, 65-45. NDSU went on to drop the contest, 86-69.
NDSU will continue its road swing at Charleston Southern on Friday, Nov. 29. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. CT
