Nellis Air Force Base suspends ‘Trusted Traveler Program’

Date:

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nellis Air Force Base announced Friday that its “Trusted Traveler Program” had been suspended.

Officials said that all visitors without a Department of Defense (DOD) identification card must obtain a base pass from the Visitor Control Center to access the installation, even if accompanied by a DOD identification holder.

Many Air Force bases nationwide have temporarily suspended their Trusted Traveler Programs as a precautionary measure following high-profile incidents in New Orleans and Las Vegas. Officials said the action was taken to enhance the safety and security of the base, its personnel, and their families.

Passes can be obtained at the Visitor’s Control Center, open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
