NFL Draft No. 2 pick odds: Shake up has Jayden Daniels to Washington likely

Date:

Jayden Daniels is movin’ on up draft boards.

In some sneaky odds movement Wednesday, Daniels now appears to be the apple of the Washington Commanders’ eye, with his odds moving to -330 from -160 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

With implied odds of -330, equaling 76.74 percent chance it happens, Daniels is now the clear front-runner to be the highest-drafted signal caller in the NFC East since Daniel Jones was selected No. 6 overall in 2019 by the Giants.

The ex-Arizona State and LSU product has tantalizing traits at 6’4 and 180 lbs., and with some added weight the hope is he could be a taller version of Robert Griffin III.

The odds movement is a bit curious as there have been no major signs from reporters or the teams themselves that they are truly trending toward landing on Daniels.

Daniels’ agent, Ron Butler, liked a post on X that expressed some frustration with the Commanders for deciding to bring four projected first-round draft-pick quarterbacks to a game of Top Golf prior to the draft.

Perhaps bettors are putting that, along with Peter Schrager’s mock draft that projected Daniels will be Washington’s pick, to draw conclusions around the quarterback picture in the 2024 NFL Draft.

If Washington has any luck, Daniels will be the pick, and the Commanders will not have to think about the position for years to come.

The team thought that was the case when they took Griffin No. 2 overall in the 2012 Draft. He won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award and looked like the franchise quarterback they had dreamed of for years.

Injuries got in the way of Griffin being the electrifying athlete that Lamar Jackson wound up being for the Baltimore Ravens.
