Nico Gonzalez was ‘hungry’ for Champions League with Juventus

Nico Gonzalez assures Juventus have ‘clear ideas’ against PSV Eindhoven and he is ‘hungry’ to make his Champions League debut.

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

“I am very happy, I can’t wait for the game to start. This is what I was hungry for,” Nico Gonzalez told Sky Sport Italia.

Juve started the season with back-to-back 3-0 victories, but since then have been held to two consecutive 0-0 draws by Roma and Empoli to slide down the Serie A standings.

PSV Eindhoven lost the Super Cup to Feyenoord on a penalty shoot-out on August 4, but have since won all five Eredivisie games, including a 7-1 away to Almere City.

“We have clear ideas, we know they are a strong team and watched many of their videos, while I have a few Argentina teammates there.

“What we’ve done so far has brought positive results and we are on the right track, so we must continue like this.”

The former Fiorentina winger is taking a supporting role in the trio behind Dusan Vlahovic, with Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz, while Weston McKennie is a surprise pick in midfield.

“I just need to provide assists and work for the team. We came here with hard work and the right ideas, so we just need to keep going,” concluded Nico Gonzalez.

It is the debut for this player in the Champions League, although he reached the Final of the Conference League with Fiorentina in both 2023 and 2024.
