Iowa State men’s basketball picked up an early commitment – and its first – in the 2027 class on Thursday, when North Scott small forward Josiah Harrington committed to the Cyclones.

The 6-foot-5, 170-pound sophomore chose Iowa State over offers from Iowa, Illinois, Northern Illinois and Oklahoma.

Harrington averaged 13.3 points per game – tied for a team-high – in his freshman season at North Scott. He shot 55.1% from the field and 46.5% on 3-point attempts. He added three rebounds and one assist per game.

The Register spoke to Harrington over the summer after he saw a rise in his recruiting stock after a successful AAU basketball season. He shared that he still had a lot of room left to grow.

“My jump shot has come a long way,” Harrington said. “I need to get better at my volume, that’s my main focus right now. And I need to get stronger, put on some weight, because I think that will help my game a lot.”

T.J. Otzelberger and company were among the latest to offer the North Scott sophomore on Sept. 1, 2024.
