Ravichandran Ashwin made a big claim and labelled his India teammate as the most talented cricketer he has seen in his career. Ashwin went on to praise the 2024 T20 World Cup winner for his all-round skillset and how natural all the cricketing attributes come for him.

Ashwin reserved the highest praise for Ravindra Jadeja, with whom he has played together for India for more than a decade. The duo have been regulars in India’s Test team since 2012 and formed one of the most lethal spin bowling partnerships in cricket history. Ashwin and Jadeja regularly played white-ball cricket for the national team till 2017 too and were teammates in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2012 to 2015.

Ashwin further revealed that over the years, his relationship with the star all-rounder has improved. “He (Ravindra Jadeja) is the most talented cricketer I have seen. Everything is natural. Knows batting, bowling, and fielding. Over the years, our relationship has improved. Jaddu and Me are very different. What I think he does not. Understanding took some time but now we have a very good working relationship,” said Ashwin an interaction on Vimal Kumar’s Youtube channel.

Ashwin also slammed claims of there being envy or awkwardness between them, as when the team is travelling overseas, only one of them is able to play in the playing XI.

“Which awkwardness? This is our problem. This is not Ravindra Jadeja’s fault. I look at how I can better. Should I kidnap Jadeja and keept at home? I did not get a chance so I did not. You are talking about jealousy. It is conditioning. Thought should never be him. Though should always be you. Only 11 can play. All of us are playing for the same team. The communication line is the player who is not playing, how should we handle them. The one thing I can do is keep working on my batting and fielding. I cannot field like Jaddu but the aspiration should be how I can getter,” Ashwin added.

Ashwin and Jadeja are India’s most successful bowling pair in Test cricket history, having played 53 matches and taken 542 wickets.

The duo will be reunited later this month when India face Bangladesh in the first Test of a two-match series in Chennai on September 19.
