NCAA.com correspondent Autumn Johnson has revealed the season’s fifth Power 10 rankings.
Power 10 for the week of Dec. 9, 2024
1. UCLA (Previously 1)
The Bruins captured their first Big Ten win over former Pac-12 foe Washington.
2. UConn (Previously 2)
Dismantled Louisville, 85-52, to pick up its third-ranked win. Sarah Strong led the way for the Huskies.
3. South Carolina (Previously 3)
Used defense to shut down TCU, holding the Horned Frogs to 52 points. We even saw an Ashlyn Watkins dunk that gave us a highlight to remember for ages. After receiving its first loss in two years to UCLA, I think it’s safe to say the Gamecocks are just fine picking up their fourth-ranked win.
4. Southern California (Previously 5)
The Trojans received their first win in the Big Ten over Oregon.
5. LSU (Previously 6)
The Tigers survived Stanford in overtime with a takeover from the trio of guards led by Mikaylah William’s 32 points.
6. Maryland (Previously 7)
Survived Purdue to remain undefeated.
7. Notre Dame (Previously NR)
Defeated Texas by holding the Longhorns scoreless in overtime. No one else lost in my top six, but the Fighting Irish face UConn this Thursday, which is an opportunity to climb back to the top.
8. Texas (Previously 4)
Rori Harmon hit a couple of clutch free throws to help send the Longhorns into overtime, but Notre Dame’s stifling defense, paired with cold shooting, left Texas scoreless in the extra frame.
9. Duke (Previously 8)
The Blue Devils picked up their second-season loss to South Carolina by 11 points.
10. Oklahoma (Previously NR)
Bouncing back from an overtime loss to Duke by picking up a ranked win over Louisville.
Dropped out
Kentucky & TCU — Both teams received their first loss of the season.
See you next week for my next Power 10 rankings.
