O’Brien and Harvey Share NCAA Player of the Month Honors

A trio of WCHA players earned national recognition for their NCAA women’s hockey performances in October. Wisconsin’s Casey O’Brien and Caroline Harvey were named the national Co-Players of the Month, while St. Cloud State’s Emilia Kyrkkö was named the national Rookie of the Month.

O’Brien, who is in her final season of NCAA eligibility scored 2.40 points per game in October and hit the 200 career point mark, only the sixth player in program history to
reach the mark. In 10 games, during which time Wisconsin went undefeated, O’Brien’s 24 points were tops in the nation.

Earning co-player of the month honors was defender and Wisconsin teammate Caroline Harvey was was second in NCAA scoring through October with 19 points in 10 games.

Rounding out the national monthly honors was St. Cloud State netminder Emilia Kyrkkö, who was named the HCA Rookie of the Month. Kyrkkö topped the WCHA and ranked third in the NCAA with a 0.970 GAA and .962 save percentage.
