SPRINGFIELD — It is a thing of beauty, all polished gold and bearing the names of NBA championship teams, including the current king of the league, the Boston Celtics. It is an object of awe for true basketball fans. This weekend, the Larry O’Brien Trophy was venerated by basketball fans from around the Northeast during a two-day stay at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Connor Olson, 11, and his family traveled from Voorhees, New Jersey, just to spend a little time with the trophy. Connor allowed that it was “really cool.”
