Grappling with a serious injury crisis, OGC Nice have suffered yet another blow. Club captain Dante (41) is set to undergo surgery on a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for several months.
Nice announced on Monday that the club captain would undergo surgery on a meniscus injury, suffered against RC Strasbourg Alsace on 24th November. Whilst the Brazilian managed to finish that encounter, he has not played since. Whilst Le Gym did not announce a return date for Dante, L’Équipe understands that it is unlikely that he makes a return before February.
It is a blow for Nice, who are missing a whole first XI of players, with the likes of Morgan Sanson, Terem Moffi, Mohamed-Ali Cho, Jérémie Boga, Melvin Bard, Jonathan Clauss, Ali Abdi, and Youssouf Ndayishimiye all out, to name but a few. Dante has revealed a desire to continue with Nice until the end of next season, however, a decision on his future will have to be made later this campaign with his current deal expiring in the summer.
