OLSH’s Schollaert finishes tied for second in the PIAA Golf Championships

STATE COLLEGE — A total of 11 golfers from across the Beaver Valley made the trip across the state to compete in the 2024 PIAA State Championships at the Penn State Blue and White Golf Courses in State College on Monday and Tuesday.

Here is a look at how all the area golfers faired over the two-day tournament.

Class 3A Boys

Nico Ward, West Allegheny

The freshman shot 2-over par overall, fishing with a gross score of 146. Ward shot a pair of 73s on Monday and Tuesday, with nine birdies throughout the tournament.

Class 3A Girls

Liv DeGori, Moon Area

DeGori finished in 35th place as the sophomore shot a 90 on Monday and an 85 on Tuesday to finish the tournament with a 175 total gross score.

Class 2A Boys

Jonah Schollaert, OLSH

The junior finished tied for second place with three golfers. Schollaert shot a 69 on Day 1, eagling the fifth hole and finishing with a 33 on the front nine and a 36 on the back. On Tuesday, he shot a 71, finishing with a 37 on the front and a 34 on the back with an eagle on the 18th hole. Schollaert finished four strokes under par, shooting a 140 total gross score.

Ethan Dai, Quaker Valley

After a strong start on Day 1, Dai finished the tournament shooting 1-over par and tied for sixth place. The Quaker Valley senior finished Day 1 with a 68, tied for the lowest score heading into the final round. But on Tuesday, Dai shot a 40 on the front and a 35 on the back to finish with a 75 on the day and a 143 total gross score.

Tyler Guevara, Beaver County Christian

Guevara shot a 74 on Monday and an 81 on Tuesday to finish with a total gross score of 155 at 11 strokes over par and tied for 32nd place with three other golfers.

Nolan Wagoner, Quaker Valley

Wagoner also finished tied for 32nd as he finished with a score of 72 on Monday and an 83 on Tuesday.

Severin Harmon, Sewickley Academy

After finishing tied for second place in the WPIAL Class 2A Individual Golf Championships in early October, the Sewickley Academy senior finished tied for 41st, shooting an 83 on Monday and a 76 on Tuesday. Overall, Harmon finished 15 strokes over par, shooting a total gross score of 159.

Karan Kad, Sewickley Academy

Kad finished tied for 55th place, shooting an 81 on Monday and 83 on Tuesday. The Sewickley Academy senior shot 20 strokes over par with a total gross score of 164.

Jordan Keller, Ellwood City

Keller wrapped up his junior season finishing tied for 55th, shooting an 80 on Monday and an 84 on Tuesday. Overall, he shot 20 strokes over par with a total gross score of 164.

Class 2A Girls

Makenna Kamnikar, Quaker Valley

Kamnikar finished her junior season with a 33rd-place finish, shooting a 91 on Monday and a 100 on Tuesday on the Blue Course. She finished 47 strokes over par with a total gross score of 191.

Vivian Reiprish, OLSH

Reiprish finished with a 198 total gross score at 54 strokes over par. The sophomore shot a 92 on Monday and finished out the tournament with a 106 on Tuesday.
