One dead after hit-and-run that involved fatal shooting, Fort Myers police say

One person died following a hit-and-run that involved a shooting, Fort Myers police announced Sunday night.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Fort Myers police said incident blocked two westbound lanes of Colonial Boulevard at Ortiz Avenue.

Police said it is an isolated incident and encourage witnesses to contact them at 239-321-7700 or SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

Officer Kristin Capuzzi, spokesperson for Fort Myers police, confirmed it is the seventh homicide in the city this year.
