Oregon State unveils 2024-25 women’s basketball nonconference slate, potential matchup looms with a national power

Date:

Four games against teams from Power 4 conferences and the possibility of facing Connecticut are part of Oregon State’s 2024-25 women’s basketball nonconference schedule that was announced Tuesday.

The Beavers’ 11-game nonconference slate begins with a road game at Colorado State on Friday, November 8. OSU’s home opener is November 12 against Northwest Nazarene.

It is a road-heavy nonconference schedule, with only three games at Gill Coliseum, plus a November 1 exhibition game against Westmont. Games outside of Corvallis include three tournaments: at Arizona State, Maui and the Bahamas.

Oregon State has a chance to play 11-time national champion Connecticut in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, November 25-27 at Nassau, Bahamas. It is a four-team tournament, with two teams still to be determined. Matchups will be announced once the field is filled.

The Beavers play in the Briann January Classic, November 16-17 at Tempe, Arizona. The matchups are set for that tournament, as OSU plays Minnesota in the opener, followed by Arizona State.

In addition, Oregon State secured a home-and-home agreement with Arizona State by playing in the Briann January. The Sun Devils will travel to Corvallis to play a game in a future year.

In the Maui Classic, hosted by Oregon State, the Beavers play Western Kentucky and Miami. Dates are December 19 and 20.

Oregon State’s nonconference home games are Northwest Nazarene, Grambling State (Dec. 3) and UC Irvine (Dec. 15). It is the fewest number of nonconference home games for Oregon State since coach Scott Rueck took over the program in 2010.

Oregon State competes in the West Coast Conference this season. The WCC previously announced its 2024-25 schedule. Yet to be scheduled are OSU’s first two conference games, as there was a conflict with the Maui Classic.
