Victor Osimhen, Bruno Fernandes, and Milan players, including Mike Maignan and Tijjani Reijnders, supported Rafael Leao on Instagram as the Portuguese struggles under Paulo Fonseca.
Leao was subbed off in the second half of Milan’s 3-1 win over Club Brugge on Tuesday and the Rossoneri took the lead just one minute after the Portuguese was replaced.
Only a few days earlier, Leao had spent the entire Serie A game against Udinese on the bench, with Fonseca explaining that the team is “more important” than any player.
The Portuguese winger didn’t even join his teammates for post-match celebrations under the Curva last night, attracting criticism from ex-Rossoneri striker Paolo Di Canio.
Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has received support from his friends and fellow footballers.
Many of them, including some Milan teammates, Osimhen and his compatriot Bruno Fernandes, replied to his latest Instagram post, which had restricted comments.
Napoli loanee Osimhen wrote, “God never fails”, while Tammy Abraham and Reijnders commented with heart emojis.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes tried to cheer his compatriot up with a joke: “I know that I never fail.”
