Palomakis reach BMX World Championships

MARQUETTE — The Palomaki family of Marquette had a successful run at the 2024 Union Cycliste Internationale BMX World Championships held in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in May.

Sisters Silvia and Stella Palomaki raced in their age divisions and advanced through several rounds, initially in Sarasota, Florida, in January to earn a spot on Team USA.

With parents Matt and Angela Palomaki and brother Fischer Palomaki attending, Silvia placed third overall in the age 10 Girls Challenge division in South Carolina, while Stella made it to quarterfinals in hte 9 Girls Challenge division as she finished 24th.

Just to reach the quarterfinals, each had to compete in three races. Silvia also advanced through that and the semifinal round to reach the finals.
