Police review new evidence in I-55 fatal shooting

Date:

ST. LOUIS – Police want to know what you or your cameras saw on Interstate 55 near Loughborough this past Saturday night at about 10:30 p.m.

CBC High School student Colin Brown was struck by a stray bullet while he was sitting in the passenger seat. He and his father were driving home from a high school hockey game while police say there was a rolling gun fight in the opposite lanes.

Police tell us there were possibly multiple shooters who were wielding automatic weapons.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department stated in a press conference Wednesday, “We have new video that we didn’t have Monday that detectives are now reviewing.”

The scene ended near Ballpark Village, near Broadway and Walnut.

Emergency responders provided the following timeline:.

  • EMS received the call at 10:36:38 p.m.

  • A medic unit was dispatched about two minutes later at 10:38:24 p.m.

  • The medic unit responded at the staging location less than a minute later, by 10:39:08 p.m., but they had to wait for police to make sure the scene was safe.

  • Police secured the scene at 10:46:04 p.m.

  • The medic unit was then on scene about six minutes after that at 10:52:50 p.m.

A fire department representative was not available to talk about the response time on camera but told us by phone that it’s common protocol to wait for police to secure a crime scene before medics respond.

SLMPD Spokesperson Mitch McCoy described a moving scene prior to emergency responders having a final destination.

“When we look at the call notes, there was a 911 call that was active the entire time. The father was on the interstate driving. There were multiple locations,” he said.

Now the focus is on catching the shooter or shooters. It cannot be emphasized enough how valuable a tip from you could be. If you saw anything suspicious on I-55 that Saturday night, please call the St. Louis Police Homicide Division at 314-444-5371 or email homicidecoldcase@slmpd.org.
