Portland will host a women’s college basketball regional for the Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament in 2028, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
The University of Portland will host the event in partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers/Rose Quarter. The Division I regional is scheduled for March 24-27, 2028.

The NCAA announced the host sites for the regional semifinals and finals in 2027 and 2028. Two sites were chosen for each year, continuing the format shift adopted for the 2023 tournament. Portland and Washington will be the hosts for the 2028 regionals and Las Vegas and Philadelphia will host in 2027.
Portland hosted regional play in 2024.
“These cities, recognized as epicenters of the sport, have a proven track record of hosting successful events and possess the necessary infrastructure to support the expanding championship and its two-site regional format,” Lynn Holzman, vice president of women’s basketball for the NCAA, said in a statement. “We extend our gratitude to all the bid cities for their participation and look forward to building further momentum for women’s basketball.”
The women’s Final Four will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana in 2028. Portland will host the women’s Final Four in 2030.
