Christmas has come early for more than 50 First Coast non-profit organizations.
The Players Championship announced that it has used proceeds from the 2024 tournament to award its Red Coats Community Grants, named for The Players “Red Coats,” the past chairs who oversee the grant application process.
“The 2024 Red Coats’ Community Grants embody the spirit of giving back to our community, and we are honored to support such a diverse group of organizations,” said Kevin Robbins, the 2004 Players chairman who oversees the Red Coats’ Community Grant Committee, in a statement. “These nonprofits are making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families across Northeast Florida, and we’re excited to see the positive impact these grants will bring.”

What other grants are available through The Players?
The Red Coats’ Community Grants are one of three main grant programs offered by the tournament. The Players annual grant program will open next month, providing significant funding to local nonprofits with grants starting at $12,500.
The equipment grant program, which provides new golf equipment from the PGA Tour Superstore to nonprofits, remains open for applications year-round. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply and learn more by visiting the community section of The Players website and subscribing to the community newsletter.
PGA Tour: FedEx Cup Fall begins in Napa

What’s the purse? $6 million ($1,080,000 and 500 FedEx Cup points to the winner).

Who won last year? Bryson DeChambeau rallied from eight shots off the pace with a final-round 63 at Rich Harvest Farms, beating Anirbarn Lahiri and Marc Leishman by one shot.

Notable: The team race will be for the third first-round bye at the LIV Golf Team Championship Sept. 20-22 at the Maridoe Golf Club near Dallas. DeChambeau’s Crushers and Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII have already clinched the first two spots. Smith is the captain of the third-place Rippers but Smash and Torque can beat them out for the third spot. … The individual points race is down to Rahm and Joaquin Niemann. Rahm, who has finished among the top 10 in all 11 of his starts this season, is 2.97 points ahead of Niemann. No other player can finish better than third.
LPGA Tour: U.S. on home turf vs. Europe
Event: Solheim Cup, Friday-Sunday, Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Gainesville, Va.
What’s the purse? No purse.
Who won in 2022? The two teams tied 14-14 at Finca Cartegin in Spain but Europe retained the Cup because of its victory in 2019.

LIV Golf Chicago: Hard Rock Bet is going against the defending champion with the move to a different course. Rahm is +450, DeChambeau +750 and Niemann +900.
Solheim Cup: Hard Rock has established the U.S. at –165 and Europe +155. A second tie in a row is +1100.
Procore Championship: The defending champion is the favorite, with Theegala at +1100. Next are Wyndham Clark (+1200), Corey Conners (+1400) and Florida State amateur Luke Clanton (+2000) who has already posted three top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season.
