Protective measure planned by Barcelona for star defender for Real Sociedad clash

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi is determined to play in the upcoming match against Real Sociedad, despite suffering a serious injury.

The incident occurred during Barcelona’s recent match against Crvena Zvezda, where Cubarsi was kicked in the face, leaving him with a wound that required 10 stitches.

While the injury is still fresh and has not fully healed, the 17-year-old is eager to make a quick return to action, and the club is working to make that possible.

Requesting a protective mask

Although it is not advisable for him to play so soon, considering the nature of the injury, Cubarsi has requested the club to find a protective mask that would allow him to play safely against Real Sociedad, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The mask would aim to minimize the risk of further injury by protecting the wound, which is still in the healing process.

In response to this request, Barcelona have arranged for Cubarsi to visit a specialist at one of the leading medical centres in Barcelona. The purpose of the visit is to determine if a suitable mask can be created for him that fits properly and provides enough protection.

The mask will not only prevent the wound from reopening but will also ensure that it does not cause discomfort due to swelling around his face. Additionally, it is crucial that the mask does not interfere with his vision during the match.

A final decision regarding Cubarsi’s participation in the match against Real Sociedad is expected to be made after Barcelona’s last training session before the game.

The coaching staff, led by Hansi Flick, will consult with the player and the club’s medical officer, who was the one to apply the stitches in Belgrade.

It will be a joint decision, taking into account both the player’s wishes and the medical considerations to ensure his safety while playing.
