Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Napoli standout Victor Osimhen all summer, but the capital club didn’t make a move for him, which one expert believes was wise.
There’s still the possibility that Osimhen will leave for Saudi Arabia, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Chelsea had not reached an agreement, and the club’s delegation left Napoli without a deal in place.
Moreover, L’ÉQUIPE reported that some within PSG were eager to pursue Osimhen, especially after Gonçalo Ramos’ injury. However, the club ultimately decided against it.
The French media outlet also adds that Luis Enrique wasn’t on board with the idea, as he felt Osimhen didn’t align with his vision and style.
On the most recent episode of PSG Talking, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson weighed in on Osimhen’s not coming to the French capital. He agreed with the Parisians’ decision not to move for the player as his arrival only fixes a temporary problem.
“I guess, on Osimhen, you could make an argument to say that while PSG have got that money in the bank, they could probably go out and look for somebody who fills that need,” Johnson said.
“But I think it’s a temporary need as I was saying earlier, because in my opinion, maybe I’m a little bit biased towards it, I don’t know, for whatever reason. I feel that Gonçalo Ramos is a top goal scorer at European level, and he’ll show that in time.”
