PSG Mocked Over Desire to Extend Luis Campos and Luis Enrique During UCL Troubles

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to continue this project under sporting advisor Luis Campos and manager Luis Enrique. Both men’s contracts expire, but all signs point to the Ligue 1 side keeping them together.

The Parisians are going in a different direction with these two as they’re pursuing young talent that has yet to hit their full potential. As a result, this is a rebuild of the team, but there are growing pains.

On Tuesday, PSG’s UEFA Champions League struggles continued following a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich and with only three league phase matches left, there’s a chance that PSG don’t advance to the next stage of the competition as they currently sit in 26th place with four points.

The reported contract extensions would tie the PSG football advisor to the club until 2027, similar to Enrique. The sporting duo of the capital club would then continue their collaboration, but it’s a decision that Christophe Dugarry doesn’t quite understand, as he made clear with no attempt to hide his sarcasm on RMC Sport’s airwaves on Monday evening.

“I would have loved to play at this club,” Dugarry said (h/t Le10Sport). “You don’t win a Champions League match (laughs), you earn crazy salaries, you’re not even obligated to win, everyone is happy. A new training center, everything is exceptional for performance, but if there’s no performance, it doesn’t matter, what do you want me to say?”

“If they’re happy with the two Luises to win Ligue 1 and that’s enough for them and their only goal, well, listen, they might try to win the Coupe de France as well, and that’s it. Then they can extend them for three or five years.

“I saw they wanted to extend little Vitinha too, who says he feels good with his family and likes the project and the direction the club is taking. No surprise there, a club where you’re not obliged to win with astronomical salaries, it’s the dream of every footballer, it’s amazing.

“This club is great, they should keep [Enrique]. Everything is fine, more losses than wins in the Champions League, it’s perfect. Every time they don’t win a match or score goals, it’s bad luck, never their fault. Your leader, your boss, your manager tells you everything’s fine.”
