Paris Saint-Germain continued their winning ways with a 3-1 victory over LOSC Lille on Sunday. João Neves played 65 minutes, and while he didn’t appear on the scoresheet, that doesn’t take away from his impressive start with the Parisians.
Neves has four assists in three matches and, if his production continues, could be one of the marquee signings of the summer. Moreover, the Parisian midfield has Neves and Vitinha orchestrating it as they look to form chemistry.
Following the win over Lille, Vitinha spoke about Neves’ player and the 24-year-old looks to have high hopes for how the tandem will play out this 2024-25 season.
“I really like how our team plays, and I also like the way Joao plays, so it’s easy to play alongside him,” Vitinha said (h/t Canal Supporters). “But honestly, we have a lot of other players who fit well with our style, which is great for us.
“That said, it wasn’t perfect tonight—we still have some work to do. But in games like this, the important thing is to win, and that’s what we did tonight. We played well; it wasn’t bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement.”
PSG survived their early test with Les Dogues, who had won in their first two matchdays, so it wasn’t an easy opponent for the Parisians to secure three points over. The next test will come after the FIFA international break when the league phase of the UEFA Champions League gets underway.
