Paris Saint-Germain are likely laying down the groundwork to improve its backline under manager Luis Enrique. The Parisians landed Willian Pacho, but that could be one building block leading to an improved center-back group.
Marquinhos is in his 30s, Lucas Hernandez is coming off a serious injury, and Milan Skriniar isn’t part of the club’s long-term plans. As a result, Lucas Beraldo and Pacho are the young blood in the group.
Nonetheless, that could change next summer as the Ligue 1 side could pursue a young French defender to lead the backline for the foreseeable future.
CaughtOffside reported on Monday, citing sources, that Arsenal defender William Saliba is on the radar of Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich.
Despite the slim chance of the Gunners letting Saliba go, given his contract runs until 2027 and they’d only consider offers in the range of at least €120 million or more, it’s clear that there’s a market for him among other top European clubs.
From a PSG perspective though, Saliba played for Marseille, so it will be interesting to see if they open that again following the unsuccessful coaching venture with Christophe Galtier and his ties to OM during his playing career.
