PSG Standout Ranks Above Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in Chances Created Stat

João Neves has quickly become one of the standout signings of the 2024-25 season. He’s already part of an impressive statistic that puts him ahead of some of the league’s top players.

Paris Saint-Germain invested €60 million, plus an additional €10 million in add-ons, to secure the midfielder this summer, and so far, it looks like a smart move.

Neves has settled into Ligue 1 with ease, making a solid impact in his first few games. The Portuguese talent has already racked up five assists in just six league appearances.

Moreover, CIES Football Observatory spotlighted a stat displaying how much of an impact Neves is having, which has him ahead of players like Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. The outlet notes that Neves has created the most big chances in Europe’s top five leagues.

Last month, Vitinha shared his thoughts on Neves as a player, and it seems the 24-year-old is optimistic about how their partnership will unfold this 2024-25 season as they play a significant role for PSG.

“I really like how our team plays, and I also like the way Joao plays, so it’s easy to play alongside him,” Vitinha said. “But honestly, we have a lot of other players who fit well with our style, which is great for us.

“That said, it wasn’t perfect tonight—we still have some work to do. But in games like this, the important thing is to win, and that’s what we did tonight. We played well; it wasn’t bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement.”
