The Raiders picked up a rare victory in Week 16 and safety Isaiah Pola-Mao had a big hand in getting them the victory.
Pola-Mao forced fumbles by Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby and tight end Brenton Strange on back-to-back drives late in the first half of last Sunday’s game. The Raiders weren’t able to turn either takeaway into points, but keeping the Jaguars off the board loomed large in their eventual 19-14 win.
Pola-Mao had nine overall tackles in the game and the NFL announced on Tuesday that he has been named the AFC’s defensive player of the week.
Pola-Mao is in his third year with the Raiders and this is his first-year as a starter. He has 76 tackles, a sack, and three passes defensed on the year.
