Rangers Fix Up Glaring Issues In Impressive Win Over Canucks

Date:

The New York Rangers defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 in what was one of their more complete performances.

Quinn Hughes scored 34 seconds into the contest as he night really started off on the wrong foot for the Rangers.

However, New York managed to recover really well.

Throughout the opening frame, the Rangers really dominated possession time and played a much more structured brand of hockey. Their offensive pressure led to first period goals from both Mika Zabanejad and Will Cuylle.

A player who really emerged in this game was Kaapo Kakko. He scored a goal in the second period while he recorded two points on the night.

Overall, Kaapo was playing with an aggression offensively that was impressive and translated to multiple scoring chances.

It was in the third period when the Rangers were at their best.

After Chris Kreider propelled New York to a 4-3 lead, it was time to close out the game, and boy did they deliver in a big way.

The Rangers completely shut down Vancouver and put on a defensive display that we haven’t seen from this team all season.

Through the late stages, the Rangers closed out this win to perfection by controlling the pace and preventing the Canucks from really generating any high quality scoring opportunities.

It was an impressive win from the Blueshirts who seem to be getting back on track in terms of their consistency.

The Rangers play next on Thursday night against the Calgary Flames.
