Police officials rushed to 22nd Avenue Northeast near Seattle Park earlier today after they received calls of a shooting incident in the Ravenna neighborhood. Several reports by the local media suggest that eyewitnesses heard gunshots at 11 am, per local time, on Thursday.
The shooting left a woman hurt. Once the cops reached the crime scene at 22nd Avenue Northeast, they found a 20-year-old woman shot in the leg. The woman was immediately transported to HMC by AMR Ambulance. She later confirmed to the police that the suspect who shot her was not known to her. The suspect fled from the spot after the incident.
“Police investigating shooting at 22nd Avenue Northeast and Northeast 54th Street. Please avoid the area,” the Seattle Police Department said earlier in a post on X.
The shooting on Thursday happened NE of the University of Washington. The motive behind the attack is being currently looked into by the investigators. Meanwhile, it is not known if the female victim was a bystander or an intended target. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect involved in the shooting is at large. Currently, the Seattle police are investigating further to identify the suspect. Meanwhile, the identity of the victim was also not made public. No further details about the case were released by the officials.
