Real Madrid Face Setback as Arsenal Refuse to Sell PSG-Linked Star, Report Says

CaughtOffside recently reported that Arsenal’s William Saliba is on the radar of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. Nonetheless, the Spanish side appears to have received a response to their interest.

According to TBR Football, the reigning French champions are fond of Arsenal’s central defensive pairing of Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. The source reports that PSG had a representative in the stands during the North London Derby, which the Gunners won.

Both defenders are under contract with the English side until 2027, so it’s no surprise other top clubs are poking around to see if they can lure them away from the Emirates Stadium. Still, Arsenal are standing firm to hold onto their talent.

Football Transfers reports that Arsenal have informed Real Madrid they have no intention of selling Saliba to them at any price. PSG have quality center-backs on their team, but adding a young French defender would be a welcome addition. However, it seems they need to try their luck elsewhere.

Football Transfer’s Robin Bairner appeared on the latest PSG Talking podcast and noted why he doesn’t see Saliba or Magalhães for the French capital amid the recent rumors.

“Arsenal is probably a complicated team to sign players from at the moment purely because of the feel-good factor there,” Bairner said. “There’s so much positive momentum behind the team at the moment. Certainly the starting players are all going to be very, very difficult to get.”
