Real Madrid plot raid for €40 million-rated Liverpool midfield star – report

Real Madrid’s season has been hit hard by injuries. The club have lacked quality and quantity, especially in the midfield department.

The retirement of Toni Kroos has left a hole in midfield. Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni’s regular battles with injuries haven’t helped either.

Moreover, Luka Modric is not getting any younger and will likely leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, meaning reinforcements in midfield could be the need of the hour.

Real Madrid set sights on Gravenberch

Keeping that in mind, Real Madrid appear to have set their sights on Ryan Gravenberch, in their bid to reinforce their ranks in midfield.

This is according to Fichajes, which suggests Los Blancos have identified the Dutchman as an ideal target due to his brilliant performances in the Premier League.

Formerly of the prestigious Ajax academy, Gravenberch wasn’t much of a hit during his time at Bayern Munich. However, the youngster has performed exceptionally well since joining Liverpool in the summer.

He has become an ever-present figure in Arne Slot’s midfield unit, racking up 19 appearances in all competitions this season.

Real Madrid clearly like Gravenberch’s profile. His age, technical ability and versatility make him an ideal addition to a midfield setup already brimming with young talents.

Liverpool, though, are unlikely to make things easy for Los Blancos. The Reds consider Gravenberch a pivotal part of their setup and won’t be looking to sell the player, at least in the upcoming January transfer window.

That said, the Premier League giants have started looking out for potential replacements in case their star midfielder leaves the club.

To that end, the Reds are keeping tabs on Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has had a difficult start to life under Hansi Flick.

Real Madrid are also monitoring other midfielders such as Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad and Manchester City ace Rodri. So, it remains to be seen how things develop with their reported interest in Gravenberch.
