Real Madrid set sights on €38 million-rated Serie A goalkeeper – report

A slew of recent injuries during the international break appear to have put Real Madrid on red alert, with the club open to buying opportunities either in January or next summer.

The club have been linked with moves for several players over the past few days, especially in the defensive unit, where the club are running thin on options.

Keeping that in mind, Real Madrid may also consider signing a new goalkeeper, considering the fact that Andriy Lunin will most likely leave the club next summer.

Real Madrid were lucky to get away with the injury of Thibaut Courtois last season, as Lunin stepped up brilliantly. But once the Ukrainian leaves, signing a new goalkeeper could be paramount.

Real Madrid set sights on Maignan

According to Rudy Galetti, Real Madrid have reignited their interest in AC Milan’s star goalkeeper, Mike Maignan.

After previously inquiring about the French shot-stopper following Thibaut Courtois’ injury last spring, Los Blancos have now returned to ask for updated costs and conditions regarding a potential transfer.

Maignan, whose contract with AC Milan runs until 2026, has not reached an agreement on a renewal, with negotiations moving at a slow pace.

The French international is reportedly demanding a salary of €7-8 million per season, a figure higher than AC Milan’s current offer of €5-5.5 million.

Beyond financial terms, Maignan has expressed a desire to join a winning project, a condition that Real Madrid can easily meet.

His French national teammates at Real Madrid, including Aurelien Tchouameni and Kylian Mbappe, have spoken highly of the club and its potential for securing silverware, further adding to the appeal.

With AC Milan open to considering offers next summer if a renewal agreement is not reached, Real Madrid may see this as an opportunity to secure a high-calibre goalkeeper to bolster their squad.
