Real Madrid Suffer Setback as PSG Work on Contract Extension for Defensive Target, per Romano

Real Madrid could be saying goodbye to a target as they look for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal. Paris Saint-Germain are looking to secure one of their stars to a long-term contract.

In June, Mario Cortegana from The Athletic reported that Real Madrid was eyeing Hakimi as a potential successor to Carvajal. The Spanish club views the Moroccan as a strong candidate for their right-back role.

Cortegana also pointed out that Hakimi is an attractive option for Madrid because he came through their academy, has a close relationship with Kylian Mbappé, and is under contract until 2026. This means he would have just one year left on his deal after this season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG are actively working on a new contract for Achraf Hakimi, who is seen as a key part of their long-term plans. Negotiations have already begun, and the Parisians are entirely focused on securing the deal.

Hakimi joined PSG in 2021, and since coming to the French capital, he’s made 125 appearances while scoring 15 goals and registering 21 assists.
